The recent lawsuits against both illegal file sharing websites and the users of them have resulted in many of the afore-mentioned sites closing down. Surely it’s just a matter of time before an industry-standard premium file sharing site takes centre stage?
Interesting press release below on the very subject:

LOL! Torrent sites aren’t going anywhere, check your facts!
Seriously you’d think a site dedicated to posting news would actually have something worthwhile to write instead of lies and fiction.
You see a public site go down and assume all are going down? What a joke. Public sites are for noobs who don’t know any better, private sites won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Hey, I’m just making a statement of opinion, just like you are. Nothing in this world is 100% guaranteed apart from death, so until you can say that torrent sites are right up there with death, then you can’t be sure that they’re not going anywhere.
And at least have the decency to leave a proper website address as opposed to some crappy advert for torrent sites. Gosh…
Hahahaha, “noob” – that was lame when I was growing up and it’s still lame today!
I think it’s an interesting argument – there’s been a lot of shit happening lately (and not just with Torrentspy, many P2P sites have closed). Sure, new ones spring up but it’s a pain.
I use Mininova and I only do that because I feel pissed off with movie tix and DVD prices. But, at the same time, I know I’m causing these prices by using torrents – vicious circle.
Nice blog here, my man
